Newcastle Craft Expo

In today’s hectic world many people like to use their creativity and relaxe at home doing some type of craft work  Some people have being doing their crafts for many years, whilst others have only recently commenced.

People will find the crafts they love and discover many new favourite crafts at the Newcastle Craft Expo. This exciting Expo will be held over four days from the 18 - 21 August 2011 at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Showground - Brown Road, Broadmeadow, NSW, Australia. Crafts on display will include beading, stamping, quilting, knitting, painting, textile art, scrap-booking and more. People can chat to the craft experts and meet like-minded crafts-people who share the same craft passion.

There will be the opportunity to learn something new in the Make & Take classes and free Craft Seminars. These classes and seminars offer an abundance of knowledge and tips on favourite crafts. People can find new, easy ways to achieve eye-catching scrap booking layouts, get quilting ideas and discover fresh beading designs, stitching patterns and more.

Two special displays will be a part of the Craft Expo. The first is the “Quilt me a Rainbow!” display, where people can see the striking results of two recent challenges by members of Novocastrian Quilters Inc. at the Expo. The second is the 'Ugly Little Challenge', and the whole group thoroughly enjoyed working on these themes. Expo visitors will see the stages of quilt-making demonstrated, including block making, stitchery, English paper-piecing and hand-quilting. The quilters will be happy to chat and offer advice, so people are invited to stop by the display area and meet them. Novocastrian Quilters Inc. has a strong history of community involvement. One of the regular charities is John Hunter Children's Hospital.

Inspiration for scrap-bookers will be provided at the Masters' Gallery in a display of 50 framed scrapbooking works created by the Scrapbooking Memories Masters of 2011. Each layout is a mini world with its own atmosphere and a story to tell. People will be motivated by them – and will learn lots just by looking at them.
