Art and Culture



Expect to be inspired, excited and delighted by what you uncover at the 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art. QAG|GoMA's flagship contemporary event will wow crowds from 8 December til 14 April.


Give in to festival fever at the Woodford Folk Festival. The iconic six day and night festival will entertain the whole family from 27 December til 1 January.

Angela Lansbury
Two of the world's greatest living actors, Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones, are coming together in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Driving Miss Daisy. The play opens their Australian tour at QPAC from 5 til 24 February.

Don't miss the out-of-this-world stage show, Cavalia, where human and horse take part in what can only be described as an equestrian ballet. The innovative performance hits the stage from March.

Celebrate Brisbane International Film Festival's (BIFF) 21st Birthday this year with 12 days jam-packed full of films from around the world. Check out the latest and greatest in cinema from 14 til 25 November at various venues across Brisbane.
 
Join filmmakers from more than 30 countries at the Sixth annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The ceremony, commonly acknowledged as the Oscars of our region, will be held at QPAC on 23 November.

This summer, Lisa McCune and Teddy Tahu Rhodes will star in the multi-award winning musical South Pacific. QPAC will host the ground-breaking production from 27 December til 27 January.

Sport



Sport lovers are in for a supercharged summer as international greats and heated rivals prepare to battle it out in Brisbane.
 
Brisbane International
From 30 December, the best of the best will flock to the Queensland Tennis Centre for the highly anticipated Brisbane International. Watch as stars like Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams serve up a storm.
 
For the first time, Suncorp Stadium will host the exciting The Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars match. On 9 February, watch the Indigenous All Stars and NRL All Stars teams face off for the coveted Arthur Beeston trophy.


Cricketmania is set to wash over the Gabba, with the Brisbane Heat hitting the turf for a second sizzling series of the KFC T20 Big Bash League. Dress in team colours and head down to the Gabba from 9 December for a thrilling season of cricket.

Be a part of Brisbane Roar's historic quest for a Hyundai A-League three-peat as the Australian champions aim for grand final glory. Watch the action kick off at Suncorp Stadium from 13 October.

Get your bearings and discover some of the adventures that Brisbane has to offer by climbing the iconic Storey Bridge with Story Bridge Adventure

Climb


Riverlife Adventure Centre
Keep the adventure going at Riverlife Adventure Centre and kayak the Brisbane River or try your hand at some stand-up paddle boarding.

Float down the Brisbane River on a CityCat or book in for a guided river cruise with either River City Cruises or Mirimar Cruises. Both will take you up to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to get up close and personal with the local wildlife.

Back on dry land, find your way around some of the City's 1200km walkways and bike paths either on foot or under pedal power via CityCycle bike hire.
 
In some of Brisbane's inner-city parks, free morning exercise groups will get the day off on the right foot. Go green and be seen at the City Botanic Gardens, Roma Street Parkland, South Bank Parklands or New Farm Park.
 
To keep the outdoor theme going well into the night, relax and be entertained under the stars at the Moonlight Cinema in New Farm Park or the Openair Cinemas at South Bank.
 
Further afield, spend a day exploring Brisbane's beautiful backyard. The spectacular Moreton Bay and Island region to the east offers a unique coastal escape with sparkling water and kilometres of white sandy beaches. Snorkel at the reefs of Moreton Island, kayak in North Stradbroke's beautiful
Brown Lake or camp by the beach at Bribie Island.
 
In the west, the changing landscape will delight you as you explore the glorious Scenic Rim and Country Valley region. Head to Somerset and Wivenhoe Dams for water skiing, wake boarding, fishing, sailing, canoeing or swimming. Splash out in rainforest waterfalls in Lamington, Springbrook and Tamborine National Parks, or explore hidden rock pools in Mt Barney and the Border Ranges National Parks.
