Hudson Valley Hailed as Major Destination

National Geographic Traveler has named their top twenty “Best of the World” destinations in the December/January issue. New York’s Hudson Valley is touted as one of the “must-see” places for 2013. The region is called “New York’s original art show,” a tip of the hat to the Hudson River School of Painters and the lush landscape up and down the river. Also mentioned are the diverse cultural offerings from the Clearwater Festival to Storm King Art Center.

The distinction is notable since the Hudson Valley is only one of four places named in the United States. ”Our region is at the top of our game in attracting tourists,” said Mary Kay Vrba, president of Hudson Valley Tourism, Inc. “We have internationally known attractions complimented by our charming river villages and interesting local events.” The magazine is the second annual edition of Traveler, with National Geographic touting, “Nobody knows this world better.”

Hudson Valley Tourism, Inc. is the 10-county region designated by I LOVE NEW YORK to promote tourism for the area. Counties include Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester.
