Mantra Group Switches Off For Good

A record number of Mantra Group properties throughout Australia and New Zealand will be switching off their lights on Saturday 23 March for Earth Hour - a global campaign aiming to strengthen awareness for climate change.

From 8.30pm to 9.30pm, 76 Peppers, Mantra and BreakFree properties will turn off their lights and undertake other energy-saving measures, underscoring the Mantra Group's dedication to environmental sustainability.

This year, a record amount of properties will demonstrate their commitment through a series of energy saving initiatives such as extinguishing external feature lighting, switching off appliances in unoccupied rooms, dimming or turning off non-essential interior lighting and using candlelight in public areas such as restaurants and reception areas.

Guests are also encouraged to join in by turning off their room lights, televisions and other electronic devices at the time of check-in.

Many properties will also stage special Earth Hour awareness events. Highlights of this year's events include:
  • Peppers Beach Club & Spa at Palm Cove is encouraging guests to toast the Earth Hour movement with a special cocktail - aptly named the 'Blackout'.
  • Peppers Awaroa Lodge in New Zealand's Abel Tasman National Park will be making good use of the hour of darkness by taking guests on a guided glow worm walk.
  • Mantra Pandanas, Darwin is holding a romantic candlelit dinner at their onsite Table Forty Three restaurant.
