FITURTECH 2015 to promote implementation of the latest technological advances to enhance tourist experiences

The forthcoming staging of the Innovation and Tourism Technology Forum will have its own showroom dedicated to the tourism of the future

FITUR 2015, the International Tourism Trade Show organised by IFEMA to be held from 28 January to 1 February at FERIA DE MADRID, will be featuring the impact of technology on tourism in the setting of the specialist section FITURTECH. This Innovation and Tourism Technology Forum will also have a special showroom dedicated to the tourism of the future.

In accordance with the growing specialisation of tourism, FITUR has over the years developed a number of specific sections to provide professionals and experts in the sector with a platform to exchange and showcase the latest tourism trends. These include FITURTECH, a forum focusing on the field of innovation and tourism technology, the next staging of which will address the theme of “The Tourism Adventure”, revealing to a professional audience the latest technological advances and different models for application in tourism development.

The programme will include three sections: “The Iliad”, “The New World” and “2001: A Space Odyssey”, which will address the various issues of interest during the first three days of the show. At the workshop on 28 January, “The Iliad” will first of all host the 2nd International Travel Media Meeting, which will feature live interviews with national and international media. It will likewise address a range of current issues including the “Collaborative Economy”, “From BYOD to I Am the Device”, “Mobility: The End of Apps?” and “The Future of Searches and Data”. The session will also feature an address about PhoCusWright and a workshop discussing “Managing Big Data in the Tourism Industry”.

Meanwhile, “The New World” will feature sessions including a talk on “The Industry Response to Technological Challenges” and a round table debate about “The New Traveller”. The issues under discussion will include “Hotels: Traditional Models and Successful Formulae” and “Millennials: Hotels for the New Guest”, while a workshop will likewise be staged. Lastly, “2001: A Space Odyssey” will provide the focus for the FITURTECH session on 30 in January, with a range of events scheduled, including “HotelGen3: Tools for the Third Generation Hotel”.
