ORANGE F.O.O.D WEEK TO CELEBRATE 25TH BIRTHDAY

The countdown is on for the start of one of Australia’s quintessential regional food and wine events – the Orange F.O.O.D Week festival, which will take place from Friday 8 to Sunday 17 April 2016.

The F.O.O.D acronym stands for Food of Orange District, and the festival is a celebration of the abundance and diversity of local produce and the region’s talented chefs, cooks, caterers, food producers, restaurateurs, baristas and wine growers.

Celebrating its 25th year as Australia’s longest running regional food festival, and with nearly 100 events in the program, Orange F.O.O.D Week provides the perfect excuse to explore the sophistication of one of Australia’s leading regional food and wine destinations.

Member for Orange Andrew Gee said Orange F.O.O.D Week is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its Regional Flagship Events Program.

“Over the last 25 years, Orange has become synonymous with quality food and produce. With hatted restaurants offering fantastic dining experiences and world-class wineries, the region has become a must-visit destination for lovers of food and wine from across the globe,” Mr Gee said.

Orange F.O.O.D Week has been instrumental in building the reputation of the Orange district as a food and wine destination, and is a much-loved event by both visitors and residents alike. The ten-day festival is a scenic and experiential journey from the field and farm, paddock to plate, with charming food experiences that are both formal and relaxed in style.

Over the ten jam-packed days the festival boasts six signature events and over 90 additional food and wine events held at local cafes, cellar doors, restaurants, wine bars and in paddocks, orchards and vineyards. Highlights include the opening night F.O.O.D Week Festival Night Market; the 100-Mile Dinner at Molong, held on the village green at long communal tables under the stars; a series of free presentations and live cooking demonstrations by local producers, craft beer brewers, bee keepers, and chocolatiers at F.O.O.D HQ; farmers markets; a Country Fair; the Sunday Producers’ Brunch and Market; as well as a two day polo match at the Millamolong Polo Club.
