Tourism Bureau Videos Capture Awards at ART & TUR

“Bravo! Taiwan”─Food
The Taiwan Tourism Bureau entered six “Bravo! Taiwan” videos (one each on the themes of Food, Shopping, Culture, LOHAS, Nature, and Romance) in this year’s ART & TUR (International Tourism Film Festival), and came away with two prizes. The “Food” film won a Silver Rooster award in the Taste and Flavors category, and the “Nature” video won a Golden Rooster award in the Nature Tourism category. In addition, “A spiritual journey to the East Rift Valley,” a micro movie produced by the Tourism Bureau’s East Rift Valley National Scenic Area Administration, garnered a Golden Rooster award in the Cultural Tourism category.

The Tourism Bureau is delighted with the results of its first participation in ART & TUR, which help to enhance Taiwan’s international visibility and recognize the effectiveness of its videos in attracting tourists. The Bureau indicates that promotional videos are an excellent way to publicize Taiwan’s tourism allure to the world, and that its production methods are constantly being improved and updated.\

This year’s award-winning videos break away from the rigid structures of the past and adopt the viewpoint of travellers in documenting their real experiences of travel in Taiwan, faithfully offering images of the diversity of Taiwan’s attractions and the way tourists blend smoothly into the local lifestyle. The Tourism Bureau videos, released in May this year, have been presented to the public through YouTube, TV, international airline flights, promotional activities, and outdoor media. “A spiritual journey to the East Rift Valley” presents the valley’s unique landscapes, ecologies, cultures, industries, and heart-touching stories.

The Tourism Bureau, of course, hopes that its videos will draw the attention of more travellers to Taiwan so that they will come to experience the island’s awesome attractions in person.

This year’s event marked the 7th iteration of ART & TUR, an event recognized by UNWTO. Films entered in the competition fall under four major types and 18 categories. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Rooster awards are presented to films in each category, in addition to technical awards and a single Grand Prix award. A total of 166 films were entered in this year’s competition by 37 countries, and the winners were invited to Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city, for the awards presentation.
