Tickets are still available for one of three remaining special performances of Sydney Opera House – The Opera: the Eight Wonder.
The production shares the fascinating story behind one of Australia’s most celebrated landmarks and has been secured by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres encouraged visitors from across Australia and around the globe to experience this unique celebration of Australia’ s landscape, infrastructure, culture and creative talent.
“This Opera Australia production tells the story behind the building of this renowned Sydney landmark and is expected to contribute an estimated $2.3 million to the NSW visitor economy,” Mr Ayres said.
Opera Australia’s Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini said the show would deliver a magical experience.
“Sitting under the stars on the Forecourt, the audience will be cocooned in a world of pure sound with the stunning visuals of a brilliantly designed set spread across the steps and the magnificent Sydney Opera House as the backdrop. It doesn’t get much better than this in Sydney,” Mr Terracini said.
A huge cast, chorus and orchestra will perform the opera live, with the sound transmitted to the audience through state-of-the-art Audio Technica headphones, a feat not accomplished before with classical music on such a large scale.
Sydney Opera House – additional performances on 3, 4 and 5 November.
