Angoji Temple

Tucked away in a forested corner of the Fukuno area of Nanto City, Angoji Temple was founded in 718 C.E. by a Buddhist leader visiting from India.

The temple has a humble elegance, belying the numerous treasures housed within. 

Contrasting with temples located in the bustling hearts of towns, Angoji Temple is instead shrouded in the shadowy silence of tall trees, with soft moss covering both stone and wood in a rich green throughout the year.
