Line Up at the Start Line With Michael Klim and Other Past and Present Olympians at the Noosa Summer Swim

In February 2017 the Noosa Summer Swim celebrates its fourth birthday and in its short existence has already become Queensland's largest ocean swim, with seven distances on offer over two days.

Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said that the crystal clear and sheltered water at Noosa is the perfect setting for an action-packed summer weekend, not to mention the ideal spot for après-swim refreshments with epic ocean views!

“This summer the event expands to a two day program of events with the introduction of the 5.0km Grand Prix event on Sunday February 12. This one is already attracting some of Australia's super fish with a healthy pot of prize money up for grabs”.

“The new event, a marathon distance swim, is a multi-lap course around the sheltered waters of Noosa Main Beach. This is the perfect opportunity for any seasoned swimmer to push their limits beyond the typical open water distances”.

“The Noosa 2.0 on the Saturday is the event for the masses and is the most popular event on the program. The course takes you out and back from Noosa Main Beach alongside the Noosa National Park. For those taking on their first long course event, there is an option to start with friends and other weekend warriors in the Mates Wave” said Mr. Massingham.

Since it was introduced in 2014, the Noosa Summer Swim has attracted an all-star cast of past and present Olympians, including Libby Trickett, Emma Snow sill, Jan Frodeno and Ambassador Michael Klim.

In 2016, Olympic golden girl Libby Trickett presented 2016 Rio Olympian, Chelsea Gubecka with the silverware…after knocking over a 2km swim herself! Lining up next to past and present Olympians is part of what the Noosa Summer Swim so popular.

Event Ambassador, Michael Klim, regularly takes part in the events himself and isn't surprised that more people flock to the event every year.

“The swims at Noosa are such a fun day for families, kids get to swim alongside their parents and even their grandparents – it's a really positive, healthy environment”.

“The Noosa National Park is a renowned longboard hotspot with point breaks ideal for beginners – be sure to pack your board, you won't be disappointed” said Klim.

Whether it's shopping, surfing or sightseeing, Noosa has it all. Sparkling seas, deep blue skies, elegant eateries with ocean and river views, bustling outdoor bars and cafes, superb shopping and endless outdoor fun and adventure surrounded by gorgeous nature, Noosa has it all …in buckets and spades!

Getting to Noosa is also a breeze with Jetstar, Virgin and Qantas all flying into the Sunshine Coast Airport at Maroochydore which is only a 20 minute drive from Noosa Main Beach. So, pack your bags and join Michael Klim on the Noosa start line for February 11 & 12!
