Noosa Named in 50 Best Places to Travel in 2017

Noosa has been named as one of only two Australian destinations in the 50 Best Places to Travel in 2017 list by the world's most influential travel brand – Travel + Leisure.

Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said that it was a wonderful accolade for Noosa to be recognised as one of the world's best destinations to visit and reflects the boost in recent investment in Noosa.

“The renewed interest in Noosa has seen over $100 million worth of investment in Noosa in the past few years with new properties, major refurbishments including Mantra French Quarter, Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, Seahaven Noosa and a range of other restaurants, bars and boutique properties. The most recent investment has been Sofitel taking over and rebranding the former Sheraton Noosa Resort in Hastings Street”.

“The continued investment by Noosa's tourism industry helps to boost Noosa's recognition as a choice destination for visitors”.

“Travel + Leisure report that the list takes several months to develop by surveying writers based around the world and their A-List travel specialists. Noosa was featured as one of the unsung sirens of Australia's eastern coast (Perth was the only other Australian destination featured) and was featured as gaining attention for its upscale hotels and modern restaurants, whilst also citing Noosa's natural beauty”.

“Making this list as one of the best places in the world to visit in 2017 is great recognition for Noosa and confirms Noosa is firmly cemented as an international destination of choice for visitors. This interest in Noosa also reflects the latest international visitor survey data for the September 2016 quarter which highlighted that international visitation to Noosa is at an unprecedented high, with total visitation up 7% to 147,000 visitors” said Mr Massingham.
